Responsible for the performance, integrity and security of a database. They will also be involved in the planning and development of the database, as well as troubleshooting any issues on behalf of the client. The Database Administrator may be asked to perform other related tasks including: developing, managing and testing back-up and recovery plans, capacity planning, commissioning and installing new applications and customizing existing applications on order to make them fit for purpose, ensure database integrity and security, and others.
Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering/Information Technology or any related field.
3-10 years’ experience in the IT field.
Requires strong knowledge in structured query language (SQL), UNIX and database management systems (DBMS).
High level of accuracy and attentive to updates.
Willingness to learn and utilize innovative technologies to improve application.
Strong verbal and written interpersonal and communication skills, analytical, debugging and problem solving skills.
Ability to communicate technical information in easy to understand business terms.
Familiar with main data manipulation languages and the principles of database design.
Self-motivated and can work independently with less supervision but at the same time a good team player.
Portrays good leadership skills.
